AI News for Marketers: AI is frothy, but we’re still early.
This is a significant acquisition for a few reasons:
For starters, MosaicML was founded 2 years ago and only had 60 employees. That’s $21M per employee if it was split evenly.
We will likely see more M&A activity around generative AI startups because they pose an existential threat to some enterprise technology companies (think Adobe and Figma).
MosaicML is open source and is focused on helping companies build and train their own models. There’s been a lot of debate over how the industry will take shape, and whether we’ll see LLMs (large language model) concentrated in the hands of a few powerful companies, or lots of smaller LLMs trained on specialized data.
Just last week we saw AWS and Dropbox announce generative AI venture funds. Everyone wants to join the party, and more capital will continue to flow towards generative AI.
But we’re still early — A recent study by The Verge surveyed 2,000 US adults and revealed that 43% of people haven't even heard of ChatGPT, and only 25% have heard of MidJourney.
What does this mean for you?
If you’re reading this newsletter, you’re most likely in a bubble where everyone knows about ChatGPT and why AI is so important.
Don’t assume your target customer knows anything about AI and why they need it.
Focus on educating your audience, avoid using jargon, and focus on solutions.

You can build new apps, entire businesses, or just automate manual work for your team with no-code tools like Bubble and the OpenAI API.
If you don’t have experience with these tools, check out the No-Code MBA to learn how you can build AI chatbots, writers, and image-generators (no coding experience required).
